Coaches aim to bring NE business up to gold standard

The University's School of Business, Law and Psychology is to become a centre of excellence for business coaching with the launch of North East Network for Mentoring and Coaching.
The new network will set the standard for the profession in the region, and aims to be recognised as a national seat of excellence. Coaching is being increasingly viewed as a key factor in the success of any business as it has come to play a significant role in the development of the workforce through working with individuals and teams to fulfil their potential.

The network, which is supported by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, has been set up to continue to set the professional standards for coaching and help companies in the North-East grow and develop their staff at all levels.
Angélique du Toit is recognised as a lead academic in coaching both nationally and internationally, she is the editor for the International Journal of Mentoring and Coaching and is the founder of the new North East Network for Coaching and Mentoring.
She said: “Successful organisations have always known that success is delivered through their staff, and that investing in their staff means investing in their business. Coaching provides the individual, team and organisation the tools to deliver competitive strategies.”
The North East Network for Mentoring and Coaching aims to ensure the continued development of coaching in the region by bringing together key thinkers in the profession to share their expertise, and enable business to compete successfully nationally and internationally.
Business coaches at Sunderland combine a wide range of skills and the ability to understand and fit in with the culture of a business. They support managers, expand their horizons, and provide an independent, confidential sounding board.
